49th State Brewery started up in Healy, Alaska and in 2016 they opened up their second location in downtown Anchorage. The building is massive which allows 49th State to have an impressive amount of craft beers on tap. Not only that buy they have an intensive menu with locally sourced produce, wild-caught Alaska fish and even a couple game meats like yak and reindeer on the menu. 49th State Brewery has their regular beers on tap, specialty kegs that come on from time-to-time, as well as their winter conditioned beers that are pretty spectacular.
My favorite beers are the Golden Dahl – Belgian Tripel, McCarthy’s Stout – Dry Irish Stout, -12° Quadruple – Belgian Strong Dark Ale, Portage Porter – American Porter, Saxon Scotch Ale (used to be called Wee Heavy) – Wee Heavy Scotch Ale, Flander’s Red Ale – Flanders Sour Red Ale, and the Whiskey Barrel Aged Outlander Barleywine.
